Two Italian Windsurfer Championships were held in Torbole in 1985 and 2015. The first is still recurrent among the anecdotes of the racers of the time (many of whom are still active), who to lose weight and move into the “light” category went racing with the dry suit (in summer) along the climb towards Nago…

But the Windsurfer Class was the protagonist even before in Torbole: in 1980 a European Championship was organized by the Surf section of the Circolo Vela Torbole, even before the current Circolo Surf Torbole was fully recognized by the FIV (Italian Sailing Federation).

In 2018 the Windsurfer World Trophy saw the debut in the regatta of the new multi-brand Windsurfer LT board in production, renewed in design and construction: an innovation that led to the rediscovery of the Windsurfer class all over the world, with the approach of new levers in addition to the “old” Olympic and world champions.
